TikTok's parent company confirms that it does not intend to sell the application, despite the American threat.

ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of the TikTok platform, announced Thursday that it has absolutely no intention of selling its application, despite the new American law that requires it to sever its relationship with the social network under penalty of being banned in the United States.

"The information in the foreign press that ByteDance intends to sell TikTok is incorrect," the company said on its Toutiao platform, stressing that it has "no plans to sell TikTok."

The U.S. Congress considers the application a threat to national security because of its connection to the Chinese entertainment giant.

The Senate approved a text on Wednesday, signed by President Joe Biden, requiring the Chinese parent company of TikTok to sell the application within 12 months, otherwise it will be excluded from the "Apple" and "Google" stores on American soil.

For years, TikTok has been in the crosshairs of U.S. authorities, who say the app allows Beijing to spy on U.S. users and collect personal information, as well as serve Chinese propaganda.

TikTok denies the allegations, insisting that it has never transferred data on American users to Beijing and has no intention of doing so.

"We will continue to fight for your rights in the courts," TikTok CEO Xu Ziqiu promised users.
