Flowers printed the looks of the stars at the Met Gala in New York

Hundreds of international stars attended Monday night's "Met Gala" party at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, an event that combines fashion, popular culture and charity work, while the area around the museum was a general gathering of pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

Puerto Rican rap star Bad Bunny wore a black suit with prominent stitching, styled with a large Tudor-inspired hat, and carried a bouquet of black flowers.

As for actress Zendaya, like Bad Bunny, she chose a design by John Galliano (Margilia House), which is a wavy dress between dark blue and emerald, and she put on a feathered accessory on her head. The American star made a second appearance wearing a black dress and a hat with colorful roses.

Bad Bunny, 30, and Zendaya, 27, were among the stars who hosted the evening, along with star Jennifer Lopez, Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, famous for his role as "Thor" in the Marvel movies, and fashion journalist and editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, Anna Wintour.

Bad Bunny, one of the world's most listened-to singers on streaming platforms, said, "Thanks to a dream I pursued, other dreams I hadn't even thought about have come true.

In the evening, a few hundred pro-Palestinian demonstrators approached the famous Fifth Avenue, where the museum is located, chanting "Viva Palestina" ("Long live Palestine"). Police officers, who arrested a number of them, tried to keep the demonstrators behind barriers, according to Agence France-Presse correspondents.

Behind other barriers, hundreds of celebrity fans tried to catch a glimpse of the stars, while Rihanna's fans were disappointed that she did not attend the evening.

The designs worn by celebrities were inspired by nature, as the theme of the evening was "Sleeping Beauties," while the dress code focused on "The Garden of Time," the title of a story by science fiction writer J.J. Ballard.

Flowers dominated the general party scene...either embroidered on the hem of dresses or used in jewelry and accessories. Among those who focused on this element of nature in their looks were actress Uma Thurman, rapper Nicki Minaj, singers Erykah Badu and Camila Cabello, and the artist considered the most popular French-speaking singer in the world, Aya Nakamura.

As for South African artist Tyla, she wore a tight dress designed by Balmain that evoked the sands of time and carried an hourglass in her hand.

Lana Del Rey's gown featured dark branches that rose above her head and, along with a tulle scarf, created a canopy above her. The train of rapper Cardi B's dress required nine people to lift it. He compared the design to a "black rose.

The evening was also attended by Xu Ziqiu, CEO of the TikTok platform, which is very popular among young people and is one of the sponsors of the evening, despite being targeted by the American authorities.

The Met Gala aims to fund the fashion department of the Metropolitan Museum (The Costume Institute). According to the New York Times, an entrance ticket to the party this year amounted to $ 75,000, while the cost of reserving a table was $ 350,000. Last year's event raised about $22 million. The Met Gala is usually held on the first Monday in May, coinciding with the opening of the Fashion Institute's annual major exhibition.

This year, the Metropolitan Museum used technology to "awaken its sleeping beauties," precious and original pieces, some of them fragile, from an extraordinary collection of 33,000 garments and accessories spanning several centuries.

Among these pieces is a satin dress decorated with embroidery and muslin designed by the House of Worth. This 1887 dress has been restored in a computer-generated image and displayed as a 3D image.

The experience of immersing oneself in the various pieces was achieved either through the evocation of sounds associated with them, such as a dress designed by Alexander McQueen made of shells, the sound of which was reproduced, or through smells, such as the smell of menthol cigarettes emanating from a hat from the mid-twentieth century. To allow visitors to enjoy this experience, the molecules associated with the smell were isolated through an extraction process and then reproduced in tubes that visitors could smell.

The museum also worked with OpenAI, a company that specializes in artificial intelligence, to allow visitors to chat with Natalie Potter, a twentieth-century New York socialite, about the dress she wore on her wedding day, December 4, 1930.
