Dior presents its Fall 2024 Collection in New York

On Monday, the Dior fashion house presented its Fall 2024 collection in New York, which includes designs that recall the era of the thirties and forties in Hollywood, which witnessed a liberalization in the style of dress.

The artistic director of womenswear, Maria Grazia Chiuri, was inspired by the actress of German origin, Marlene Dietrich (1901-1992), to combine "Dior's models with the star's charming presence and her style, which is similar to men's looks," as Dior said in the explanation of the show.

Black and white colors were introduced with the reinvention of men's designs for loose trousers, ties, jackets and hats.

Tweed was the most prominent fabric in the designs, reminiscent of menswear but in a softer version.

Most of the collection was shown in Paris in December, while the designs will be available from Thursday.

Dior noted that "the menswear worn by Marlene Dietrich was controversial and symbolized women's freedom to choose what they wanted to wear".

In addition to the performer of the song "Lili Marlene," who spent the last years of her life in Paris, Dior's show evoked the style of Katharine Hepburn and Greta Garbo, two 1930s stars known for their flexibility in choosing clothes.

Maria Grazia Chiuri used contemporary accessories in her collection, short shorts under traditional suits, thick-soled shoes and shirts with open backs.

Actresses Charlize Theron, Anya Taylor-Joy and Rachel Ziegler were among those who attended the fashion show at the Brooklyn Museum.
