A new trial is expected in London for actor Kevin Spacey in a sexual assault case

This lawsuit was filed in 2022 by a man accusing Spacey of sexually assaulting him, but consideration of it was suspended after the judiciary brought charges against the Oscar-winning actor for his performance in the films "American Beauty" and "The Universal Suspects" in cases of which he was acquitted last year, related to sexual assault. But after a session held on Tuesday, the judge canceled the decision made in absentia, paving the way for a civil trial on these charges.

The expectation that this trial will be held comes at a time when the 64-year-old actor denied new accusations of sexual assault, anticipating the scheduled showing on Monday and Tuesday of a documentary in which a number of men give testimony in which they address their exposure to "inappropriate" behavior by the star.

In an interview with British journalist Dan Wootton, who previously worked for GB News, that was posted on the Internet before the documentary was shown, Kevin Spacey denied any illegal behavior.

Spacey admitted in the interview that he had sexual relationships with men who "thought they would advance their careers by having a relationship with me," but added, "I never told anyone that I would help their careers in exchange for sexual favors. He accused the network of giving him only seven days to present his account of the incidents, some of which date back some 50 years.

Spacey, who has also been accused of sexual assault in the United States, was found guilty in a New York civil court in 2022. In 2019, charges against him were dropped in a separate case.

The first accusations against Spacey were made in 2017, at the beginning of the "Me Too" movement, when he was at the height of his stardom and starring in the famed Netflix series House of Cards, which led to his removal from the final season and made him a pariah in Hollywood.
