Paris Olympics: Noah Lyles aiming for four gold medals

Noah Lyles will not be running in the 4x100m relay at this weekend's world track and field championships in Nassau, but the American athlete insists he is aiming for four gold medals at the next Olympics in Paris.

Lyles won three gold medals at last year's World Championships in Budapest in the 100, 200 and 100m relay, making him one of the most prominent contenders ahead of this summer's Paris Olympics.

The 26-year-old also competed at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow last March and returned home with two silver medals after his teammate Christian Coleman overtook him in the 60m dash, while Alexander Doum secured victory for Belgium at the expense of the American quartet at the finish line. In the 400-meter relay, four times.

Lyles' participation in the relay drew criticism at the time, as Fred Curley, the 2022 100m world champion and Tokyo Olympics silver medalist, accused USA Track and Field officials of bias in the selection of Lyles.

But Lyles remains eager to put his full weight behind the start of the Olympics, saying, "I'm going to train specifically for the 100 and 200 meters and be as prepared as possible for the 400."

He continued, "I am in the best preparation I have ever been in my life. I know I have been saying that for the last two years, but it is very true.
