Taylor Swift, Katy Perry Win Top MTV Video Music Awards

American star Taylor Swift won the title of Best Video of the Year for her song "Fortnite" at the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday, and also won the Fan Award for the third year in a row.

As for singer Katy Perry, she won the "Video Vanguard Award," dedicated to artists who have had a strong impact on the music video industry.

Taylor Swift, who also directed her music video, said in accepting the award, "I always try to find a way to thank my fans for making my life what it is.

During the ceremony in Elmont, New York, the global star urged her fans to vote in the US presidential election.

The 34-year-old singer said: "If you are 18 and older, register to vote for something else that is very important."

Taylor Swift announced her support for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris after Tuesday night's televised debate between the current vice president and her rival, former President Donald Trump.

"She fights for the causes and rights I believe in," the pop star wrote of Harris in an Instagram post Tuesday night.

Rapper Eminem kicked off the show by recreating the set where he performed "The Real Slim Shady" at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, accompanied by dozens of his look-alikes.
