Paris Saint-Germain resorts to the French Federation in its financial dispute with Mbappe

Paris Saint-Germain have filed a request to discuss their financial dispute with former striker Kylian Mbappé before the French Football Federation's executive committee, following decisions in favour of the player by the French Professional Football League (LFP), a source close to the case told AFP.

The league's legal committee mediated between the two parties in September after Mbappé appealed to it, but when faced with the refusal of the new Real Madrid striker, who is demanding 55 million euros in unpaid wages and other bonuses from the capital club, it immediately decided to ask Saint-Germain to pay this amount within a week.

After Saint-Germain appealed the decision, the appeal committee confirmed the initial decision issued by the legal committee in mid-October and ordered the capital club to pay, which the league champions immediately refused to implement.

The request to discuss the financial dispute was filed with the French Football Federation last week.

The aforementioned source indicated that it is "under consideration" and is likely to be rejected.

In contrast, a source close to the PSG management recently explained to AFP that the club would use these procedures "in principle", rather than expecting to refer the matter to the court in a long-term procedure.

The conflict goes back to the agreement reached in August 2023 between Mbappé and the club's management. The French striker was marginalized with the team and did not play in several matches because he refused to extend his contract.

This extension would have guaranteed PSG a sum of money from the transfer deal for the 2018 World Cup champion and 2022 Qatar runner-up, who signed for free last summer with Real Madrid.

Under this agreement, the player agreed to give up 55 million euros in various bonuses if he left for free at the end of the season. But the validity of this agreement, which the player himself spoke about publicly to journalists last January, is in doubt by the international striker's camp.
