Thomas Tuchel has been appointed England manager following the European Championship runners-up and will take over from January 1, 2025, the Football Association of England said on Wednesday.
"Champions League winner Thomas Tuchel is the new England manager and will be assisted by England coach Anthony Barry," the FA said in a statement.
Tuchel, 51, replaces Gareth Southgate, who was in charge from 2016 to 2024, and Lee Carsley, whose temporary tenure was extended until the international break in November. He is the third foreign manager in the history of the Three Lions, after the late Swede Sven-Goran Eriksen (2001-2006) and Italy's Fabio Capello (2007-2012).
